The Geordie Hour
Listen to Gary Hogg's Geordie Hour
3pm Sunday afternoons
on Radio Tyneside
Also on

Radio Northumberland
6pm Sundays - repeated 6pm Sat

(Unless it clashes with a Newcastle home game in which case live commentary from the match takes priority and the show is played in a later slot)

It's a light-hearted celebration of the mass of talent we have here in the north East.

I'll be playing music and songs by local singers and bands as well as material written by people from the area - or anything that has the slightest link to the north-east.

So you can expect local heroes like Mark Knopfler, The Shadows, The Animals, Lindisfarne in the pop bit - then you'll hear local Folk legends like The Doonans, Johnny Handle and Pete Scott in the Folky part.

There'll be a spot for new bands and performers who send me their CDs or mp3s to play...and there's lots of them!! Jazz, 30's, Ballads - you name it.

I'll also play a lot of old Geordie songs so you'll be hearing Denis Weatherley, Owen Brannigan and  more up to-date singers performing old favourites like 'Wherever Ye Gan' and 'Keep Yer Feet Still'

There'll be TV theme tunes, Film soundtracks that have a link to our area and there'll occasionally be a 'Guess the Link' for some tracks that maybe aren't quite as obvious.

Every week there'll be a fair bit of local comedy too including funny songs and recitations.

Radio Tyneside is the premier hospital broadcasting service for Newcastle and Gateshead, broadcasting in four hospitals on Hospedia, on 1575am and online HERE 24 hours a day.

If you have any requests or suggestions for tracks please drop me a line and I'll see what I can do.

If you're a local band please get in touch too. It's an easy-listening programme that goes out on a Sunday so there will be restrictions regarding what I can play.

If you have an idea for the 'Guess The Link' spot - Maybe you know something that other's don't - or there's a track that has any link whatsoever then let me know.

It's just for fun. Oh, well go on then - you might win a CD!
